Il grotto, costruito oltre un secolo fa ma rimodernato da poco, dispone di spazi ben distribuiti sia all’interno che all’esterno. La cantina dei vini é scavata in una roccia calcarea che garantisce ottime condizioni per il mantenimento delle numerose bottiglie di vini. La cucina dell’Antico Grotto Ticino propone piatti basati sulle antiche e gustose ricette ticinesi e lombarde, senza dimenticare specialità e prodotti legati al territorio circostante, come i classici formaggini della Valle di Muggio, il formaggio Zincalin, salumi tipici, brasato al Merlot, luganighetta alle cipolle, selvaggina e l’immancabile griglia.
Hausgemachte Tessiner und internationale Küche Das Antico Grotto Ticino befindet sich in der pittoresken Via delle Cantine im Dorfkern von Mendrisio. Das Grotto wurde vor über hundert Jahren gebaut und kürzlich renoviert. Es verfügt über mehrere Räume. Der Weinkeller wurde in einen kalkhaltigen Felsen eingebaut, was eine optimale Lagerung der zahlreichen Weine ermöglicht. Die Gerichte des Antico Grotto Ticino werden nach den alten und köstlichen Rezepten des Tessins und der Lombardei zubereitet. Auch regionale Spezialitäten wie die Käse des Muggiotals, der Zincarlìn, hiesige Wurstwaren, der Brasato al Merlot, Luganighetta mit Zwiebeln, Wildgerichte und Grillspezialitäten fehlen nicht auf der Karte.

Le bistrot, construit plus qu’il y a un siècle mais modernisé récemment, dispose de places bien distribués soit à l’intérieur qu’à l’extérieur. La cantine des vins a été creusée dans une roche calcaire qui garantit des excellentes conditions pour l’entretien des nombreuses bouteilles de vin. La cuisine de l’Antico Grotto Ticino propose des plats basés sur les antiques et savoureuses recettes tessinoise et lombardes, sans oublier spécialités et produits liés au terroir alentour, comme les petits fromages de la Val de Muggio, le fromage Zincalin, charcuterie tipique, bœuf braisé au Merlot, luganighetta aux oignons, gibier et l’immanquable grille.
The Antico Grotto Ticino is located in the picturesque street of the Cantine del Borgo of Mendrisio. The tavern, built more than a century ago but recently modernized, has available well allocated places, both inside and outside. The cellar of wines was hollowed in a calcareous rock which assures excellent conditions for the keeping of the large number of bottles of wine. The kitchen of the Antico Grotto Ticino proposes dishes based on the old and flavoured recipes of Ticino and Lombardia, not forgetting specialties and products linked to the surrounding area, as the classical little cheeses of the Valle di Muggio, the Zincalin cheese, typical charcuterie, Merlot braised meat, luganighetta with onions, game and the unfailing grill.
